Beachtown Public Beach Access
Walk through the serene setting of cottages and villas with walkways lined with trees and shrubs as you make your way along the walkway to the Beachtown White Bridge. There are no public restrooms or public showers available at this location so plan accordingly. Access to the bridge is from Seaside Dr, but make sure you park in a designated area so as not to get towed. While you are in the area, stop into Porch Cafe and enjoy a delectable meal in a truly beautiful beach setting.
Beach Access 1A
Beachtown Beach Access Point #1A is located on E Beach Dr between Positano Ln and Ocean View Dr. There is a gravel parking lot with ample parking spaces and trash receptacles all around the parking lot so you can properly dispose of any unwanted items from the beach. There is a trail that leads from the parking lot to the beach, however, there is no boardwalk or walkover, so it is not a great option for any accessibility needs. If you have accessibility needs then East Beach, Stewart Beach, Beach Access Point 1B, or Beach Access Point 1C would better serve your needs. Just be cautious that even at these beaches the sand is soft and difficult to maneuver.
Beach Access 1 B
Palisade Palms Public Beach Access Point #1B is accessible via a paved walkway up to a wooden boardwalk behind Palisade Palms Hotel. The walkway goes up a ramp, across the dunes, and down another ramp onto the beach. Beach Parking is on a gravel parking lot large enough to accommodate roughly 60 or so cars. This parking is free to the public and there is no charge for beach access. There are no public showers and no public restrooms at Public Beach Access Point 1B. They do have trash receptacles in the parking lot so be sure to pack out anything you pack in. There are three handicap parking spaces available and due to the paved walkway, this would probably be the most accessible place to access the beach in Beachtown. Parking is just off E Beach Dr past the entrance to Palisade Palms Hotel
Beach Access 1 C
Access to the City of Galveston Beach Access #1C in Beachtown is via a wooden walkway across the dunes to the beach. As you turn off Seawall Blvd onto E Beach Dr, parking for Beach Access 1C is just past Grand Beach Blvd. The parking for beach access is on a gravel parking lot with five handicap spaces available. The Accessible Parking Spaces are located right next to the beach access ramp and are on a hard surface for ease of access.
East Beach Free Parking
If you are heading to East Beach and still want to park on the beach for free you can by accessing the East Beach Free Beach Parking at the end of Apffel Park Rd. Exit off Seawall Blvd onto either East Beach Dr and drive until you come to Apffel Park Dr and make a right, or exit Apffel Park Dr off Seawall Blvd and drive until you come to the East Beach Free Parking area. You can enter and pay for parking at East Beach to the left if you like or enter the free beach parking area on the beach to the right. The beach is managed by the Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees. Parking is available on the beach and there is a lot of room to park, but it can fill up quickly during busy times, but you have the convenience of parking on the beach and having your gear easily accessible.
