Babe's Beach
Discover Babe's Beach
Babe’s Beach, located in Galveston, Texas, is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Babe’s Beach is a family-friendly area on the Galveston Seawall known for its calm waters and soft sand, as well as its proximity to The 61st Street Fishing Pier, where you can get a wonderful ocean view while watching people try their hand at fishing from the pier. If you want to stay on the beach we can help you find a hotel with a beachfront view. A beach revitalization project was recently completed on the stretch of beach from 61st St to 83rd St. The project was a collaborative effort between the Texas General Land Office, US Army Corp of Engineers, City of Galveston, and Galveston Park Board. During the revitalization project, almost 711,000 cubic yards of sand were dredged from the ship channel and distributed by crews working around the clock.

History
Babe’s Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Galveston. The beach is named after A.R. “Babe” Schwartz, a former Texas legislator and Galveston County Judge who was instrumental in the establishment of the Texas Open Beaches Act, ensuring the public has free and unrestricted rights to access Texas beaches, most importantly including Galveston, TX. Because of the efforts and dedication of A.R. Schwartz, we are able to enjoy this pristine, beautiful beach year-round.
