If you are here for one of the many cruises that set sail out of the Port of Galveston you can leave your car at the hotel after your stay, for a daily fee. There are no spaces for oversized vehicles, however.
There is so much to do on Galveston that it’s hard to know where to start. You can head over to Pleasure Pier for dinning, shopping, and rides. Or you could immerse yourself in the rain forest with a trip to Moody Gardens. Don’t miss one of their wonderful IMAX films. Pelican Island is also close by, where you can visit Seawolf Park, well known for great fishing and picnics. While there you can visit naval ships and a WWII submarine.
There is so much history in Galveston that you will want to keep coming back, learning more on each visit. Wonderful museums like the African-American Museum, The Bryan Museum, and the Galveston County Historical Museum are a good start to quench your thirst for history and what Galveston is all about. Did you know that Galveston has a castle? Bishop’s Palace, built circa 1892, is open for self-guided tours daily. They also offer limited tours for typically off-limits areas.
