Local Attractions
Some of the most popular places, aside from the beaches, are Schlitterbahn Water Park, Moody Gardens, The Historic Strand District, and Port of Galveston. If time permits, planning a visit to any one of these locations is highly recommended, but plan ahead. Schlitterbahn is one of the best water parks around, and can easily take the whole day if not two or three. Just remember to bring your sunblock wherever you go. Moody Gardens is a delight for kids of all ages, and leaving without learning something is almost impossible. The Historic Strand is full of great eateries, shopping, and more history than most history books.
