Join us on the island from February 10-12, 2023 for Mardi Gras Galveston! Parades, bands, music, food, it’s all here are Mardi Gras Galveston.  Starting on Friday Feb 10 at 5pm there will be a brass band leading the George P. Mitchell Honoree to the Tremont House with processions beginning at The Press Box on 24th & Postoffice and ending at The Treemont House for the 2023 award presentation.

The award, established to honor Mitchell and other individual, corporations, foundations, and others vital to Mardi Gras will be presented at 5:30pm. Shortly thereafter Mari Gras officially begins.

The Mardi Gras Parade starts at 7:00pm on 25th & Mechanic St. It is the first parade following the George P. Mitchel Mardi Gras Award Presentation and marks the official start of Mardi Gras 2023! The parade route circles aounr Mechanic and Strand St, stretching from 25th to 20th St. Parade participants consist of 323 Bio Hazard Brass Band, Beaumont Marching Band, Worthington Marching Band, Galveston Ball High School Marching Band, Alief Marching Band, Houston Dance Tsunami, Sensational 25K Dance Team and The Isla Krewe. Also rolling in this party parade is Carne’s Fleet of Bumpin’ Busses, The Union Fire Truck & various local Floats throwing Beads & other Mardi Gras treats.

At 8:30pm we have the Funky Upton Umbrella Brigade. They have been breaking world records for the most decorated umbrellas in a single parade since 2011. In 2019 they had 1,980 participants. The Umbrella Brigade dance along the route, stopping to do the Hokey Pokey under the iconic Margi Gras Arch.

Mardi Gras! Galveston Parade

Starting at 10:00pm the festive night parade wraps up the first day of celebrations, with Festive Floats throwing beads and trinkets to the crowd, plus more marching bands and dancers joining the festivities.

The Jolly Jester Jaunt

Dress up for the Jolly Jester Jaunt on Saturday Feb 11th and join others for the official Mardi Gras! Galveston 5k. You will get an eyeful of runners in Mardi Gras themed shirts, socks, and jester hats jaunting through the Entertainment District that ends with free libations and a balcony party. There’s no better way to have fun AND get some exercise at the same time!

Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Parade

At noon on Saturday Feb 11th you can catch the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Parade starting on 57th and Seawall Blvd, heading east toward 25th St, travel down through the Entertainment District via 25th, and head down Strand St. This is the second oldest Mardi Gras Social Organization since the revival of Mardi Gras in 1985. This parade has 65 units with 12 12 Aquarius double decker floats, 15 Marching bands, dance teams, and many other floats and walking entertainment.

12th Annual Zaniest Gold Cart Parade

Get ready for some tricked out Golf Carts starting at 1:00pm on Saturday Feb 11th. Locals work year-round to prepare their Gold Carts for this very day. The event was created in 2011 to encourage spectators to become participants, and vice versa. There are cart decoration contests as well. All in good fun, but serious decorations to be sure.
